ABOUT ME

I am a physical therapist with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of Dayton and an undergraduate degree in Biology.   During college I was a cross country runner which led to my fascination in becoming a physical therapist.  Probably because of all the running injuries!  My background in sports doesn’t end at running, and I enjoy a wide variety (swimming, hiking, snowboarding, horseback riding, weight lifting, yoga … etc). This helps me understand where patients are coming from when they describe  their injuries.

During my years of practice I found  some patients that  were struggling to get better. They needed more than just laser focus on one area but instead a look at their whole kinematic chain as well as other things.  I decided to start applying my thirst for knowledge to studying everything from nutrition and sleep to neuroscience and movement analysis.  I attended workshops in manual therapy techniques and also became Level 1 and 2 certified for  MFD ( myofascial decompression).  Combining my  expertise in movement patterns with cupping has proven very effective.

Another pivotal point of my career happened after the birth of my baby. I developed an interest in the pelvic floor and low back pain. I also was tired of struggling with my own back pain ! ( that had persisted since my college days of running).  The missing pieces of the puzzle fell into place when I completed my Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise specialist certification.  This excellent course by Dr. Sarah Duvall, DPT, CPT, CNC took me a year to complete and gave me an expert level of knowledge into breathing and movement patterns.
Through all this training it led me to believe in treating the patient as a whole and look at every aspect ( even the littlest detail).    I continue to keep my knowledge up to date  with the mind set that learning is never  finished. Movement is my medicine and I hope I can help it be yours too.
